(MOLI) Multitechnique Oil Remediation ; Combination of Oil Dispersant, Bioaugmentation, Biostimulation, and Aeration to Clean Up Oil Spill in Harbour Areas

Short Description:

(MOLI) Multitechnique Oil Remediation is a method which combined methoeds such as oil dispersant, bioaugmentation, biostimulation, and aeration to cleaned up spilled oil in harbor areas. The result show that combination of all methods could make bioremediation run more effectively, efficiently, and quickly.

Oil pollution is a one problem that could be affected to environment. So, it needs to be handled with suitable method that not increase the pollution. Oil pollution could be happened cause by some human activity like exploration, exploitation, production, distribution, and consumption. So, bioremediation that consist of multitechnique method could be the best solution to solve the problem. This study aims to combine oil dispersant usage, bioaugmentation, biostimulation and aeration process that could increasing rate of bioremediation process. The method that were used for this study is ex-situ remediation by using bioreactor that designed from aquarium with aerator. The bioreactors were added sea water that were polluted by different oils (crude oil, diesel oil, and gasoline). Bacteria cultures were isolated from soil from edge of petroleum wells and oil refinery near. The method in this study were started by pouring oil dispersant that consist of DEA and MES with ratio 1:3 to each bioreactor. The second method were carried out by pouring suspension of bacteria colonies in Nutrient broth (3% v/v) to each bioreactor and stirred until homogeneous. Biostimulation were carried out by adding NPK compost to each bioreactor. The aeration process were carried out using a bubble aerator. About 50 ml of sea water from the four bioreactors was taken to be carried out FT-IR test, gravimetric test, and appearance test to determine the oil content. Based on the test, The result show that combination of all methods could make bioremediation run more effectively, efficiently, and quickly.
