EFFECTIVENESS OF KIGELIA AFRICANA FRUITS EXTRACT OINTMENT COMPARED WITH SULFADIZE SILVER TOWARDS ON CONCENTRATION, TIME, AND COMBUSTIO HEALING AREAS TO WHITE RAT (Rattus novegicus)

Short Description:

The result of this research showed that the Kigelia Africana extract ointment content of 4.21% / ml flavonoids, 2.56% / ml saponin, and 2.26% / ml tannins. In addition, kigelia Africana fruit extract ointment has met good ointment standards. It is proven that kigelia Africana fruit extract ointment has passed the physical test of ointment, which includes homogeneity test, adhesive test, pH test, scatter power test, and irritation test. At T.1 has the best level of antibacterial zone inhibition best on T.2 15.7 mm (24 hours) and 16:15 mm (48 hours). On T.2 white rats healed on the day-10th but still have scars . T.1 totally recovered on day-14th . Then KN recovered at day-19th and KP recovered on day 14th but still have scar. In irritation test does not cause irritation to the skin . On organoleptic test ointment can be received by the public with a statement of the texture of a half solid texture, slight unpleasant aroma, and brown pale color . The advantages of this ointment : a) Easily wash with water; b) Has the ability of the spread on the skin with good ; c) Environmentally friendly ; d) Can accelerate the combustion healing process .

This research aims to : (1) knowing the content of kigelia Africana extract ointment, (2) Assessing the physical test of Kigelia Africana extract ointment, (3) Acessing the zone of bacterial inhibition on Kigelia Africana extract ointment. (4) Knowing the effectiveness of ointment in healing combustion on white rat (Rattus norvegicus), (5) Analyse the advantage of Kigelia Africana extract ointment. This research was conducted at SMAN 1 Teras for 8 weeks using experimental methods and literature. This research using 4 treatment, with on the each treatment using 3 male white rats (Rattus novegicus) which was adapted. At the Positive Control (PC) given using silver sulfadiazine, ointment without extract as a negative control, T.1 given ointment with 10% concentration of Kigelia Africana extract, and T.2 with ointment with 15% concentration as much as 0.05 grams every 3 times. The research procedure include : a) preparation of tools and materials, b) Process of making kigelia Africana extract, c) Laboratory test, d) The process of making ointment, e) Physical test of the ointment, f) Irritation test, h) Effectiveness of the ointment against male white rat (Rattus novegicus), i) Antibacterial test, j) Organoleptic test.
